you once posted (on ER) a buddhist phrase that stuck with me. Something about Life is the process of seeing all the things you care about become irrelevant, or something like that. Do you remember what that was or where it came from?
That doesn't ring a bell, but I think that perhaps what happens as we get older is that we jettison the more superficial passions allowing the true ones to burn a bit brighter. Also, recognizing the transitory nature of everything does nothing to extinguish the flames.
