The things we remember....
Earlier today, playing around on Facebook, I posted a video of my favorite love song. The opening chord reminded me that there is a medieval pudding recipe made from yellow rose petals. Looking for an image of yellow roses I found that they are a symbol of joy, affection and friendship. And it wasn't even noon.

Rose water and almond milk. All distilled at home, learning while doing, reading an old recipe from a book on the medieval period. It was delicious.
Red roses for the love of your life; yellow for affection for an old friend. I like it. Thanks.
It's even better than that.
The use of roses as a "floral code" among lovers first appears in 15th Century Persia, coming to Europe in the 1700s and becoming popularized in the 19th Century to the point where entire conversations could be spoken in color without a single word exchanged.
The meaning of yellow roses has shifted over time. Originally conveying jealousy, yellow roses now symbolize joy, caring and friendship.
